About Our Pool

A nostalgic neighborhood pool in the heart of Davidson, N.C.

Founded by Members, For Members, Since 1961

Tucked into a quiet residential neighborhood off Lorimer Road, The Swimming Hole has been the summer heartbeat of Davidson families for more than 60 years. It all started back in 1961, when a group of Davidson neighbors and families built a neighborhood spot where local families could spend their summer days together.

When the gates first opened in 1962, our original concrete-block bathhouse was all 496 square feet. It was a humble little building, but it was big enough to hold the dreams of a community that wanted a pool to call its own. The 80-by-40-foot pool, with its 4-to-12-foot depth range and traditional springboard diving board, was built to be everything a neighborhood pool should be: long enough for a real swim, deep enough for cannonballs, and shallow enough at the other end for the littlest swimmers to splash in safety.

That same spirit, neighbors building something good together, still defines us today. The Swimming Hole has deliberately, lovingly, and beautifully stayed the same since 1961. Walk through our gates on any summer afternoon and you’ll find what generations of members have come to expect: the unmistakable sound of a Davidson summer in full swing.
