To: Swimming Hole Members and Waitlist Families
From: The Board of Directors
Date: December 2025
As we close out a transformative year for our Swimming Hole, the Board wants to wish you and your families a wonderful holiday season. 2025 was defined by our “Reimagine” capital project, and we hope you are beginning to imagine new ways you will enjoy the pool experience for years to come.
Before we issue our formal Annual Letter to Membership in February—which will contain a detailed review of our operations—we wanted to thank membership for what we accomplished together this year. Remember, we are all in this together.
Capital Improvement Project: While it was a year of waiting on construction, it was also a year of immense progress. We are mostly through the construction phase, and we are currently actively engaged with our general contractor and architect to resolve final outstanding matters. Final touches to the capital project like landscaping and pool furnishings are within our scope of final work, but the exact timing of these last steps is based on financials once construction is complete.
Operations: To ensure the club runs efficiently and sustainably for the long term where volunteer Board members come and go through succession planning, the Board recently approved an expanded, formalized scope of work with a third-party administrative service which serves as an expert in the field of club management, marketing, communications and information systems. This vendor partnership has already rendered the modernization of so much of the way we manage the business as a volunteer-led organization. We have automated the standard procedures from what was invaluable yet tribal knowledge of past Board members.
By reducing the administrative burden on volunteer Board members in years to come, and ensuring our business processes are modernized and based on data, we make serving fellow members through Board service more desirable and focused on our stated mission and core beliefs.
Finances: Our current financial position is healthy with ample liquidity to meet the short-term needs of the business. However, completion of our capital project in spring of the coming year, coupled with free cash flow availability required for debt service, calls for prudent control measures as we look to the future. In managing our finances, your Board will be focused on negotiating recurring charges from key vendor relationships while limiting those out of scope. We hope to offer new membership amenities as we work to reimagine and elevate the pool experience. New activity should increase member satisfaction while also creating additional sources of income to hopefully keep annual dues unchanged in an environment where costs continue rising.
We all experienced a shortened season this year, and it was frustrating. As much as we would like to refund/credit a portion of dues, it is not in the best interest of membership due to rising operating costs. Our business – remember it is ours, collectively – is no different than any business in today’s economic environment.
Swim Team Success: Despite the shortened timeline of the 2025 season, we were pleased to host a Swim Team season. We remain committed to these activities as a key part of the member experience moving forward.
Leadership Updates: We are pleased to officially welcome Erica Croke to the Board as our new Operations Chair. Please see our website for current Board Member bios. We thank former member, Mitchell Feld, for his and his family’s contributions.
Looking forward, we will be opening nominations for an Activities Chair position in February. We encourage members interested in elevating our member experience to consider this opportunity and reach out in advance.
We look forward to sharing the full summary of the state of our organization and 2026 expectations in our Annual Letter in late February. Until then, thank you for your patience and support as we continue to build the future of The Swimming Hole.
Warmly,
The Swimming Hole Board of Directors
