The Swimming Hole Board of Directors is seeking a dedicated, community-minded leader to join our team as the Activities Chairperson. Now that we have new physical assets in place from our capital improvements, this vital role is central to elevating your member experience!
If you are passionate about “reimagining” what robustly managed activity could mean to the value of Swimming Hole membership—helping our Board build community through engagement—and you have a knack for both strategic planning and on-site execution, we want to hear from you!
The Role at a Glance
The Board seat and Activities Chairperson role is responsible for leading initiatives that drive member engagement, which we believe drives enhanced community-building. This position requires a proactive leader who can balance creative event planning with the fiduciary responsibility of a Board member.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Strategic Event Planning: Developing and executing all member-facing activities throughout the year (but mostly in-season), whether through committees of volunteers built, or on your own.
- Generating/Managing Activity: Managing new programs, such as food trucks, concessions, and kids movie nights.
- Committee Leadership: Forming and managing a working committee of 4–5 members to help bring your vision to life.
- Financial Oversight: Communicating with our Treasurer and Admin, who provide detailed reporting on expenditures and revenue for all events.
Expectations and Commitment
Serving on the Board is a commitment to the “greater good”: not just of the Swimming Hole, but of our Town and community. We have entered a new era for active Board membership. We are looking for a candidate who understands that board service is about fulfilling responsibilities that serve the vast majority of our membership, our community and our organization’s long-term sustainability.
Ideal candidates will demonstrate:
- A commitment to transparency and proactive communication with the full Board.
- The ability to provide data-driven rationales for committee decisions.
- A willingness to actively contribute time and effort to initiatives critical to our success.
