Hello Members,

Pool season is almost here! The Board has been working with each of our vendor partners who help us ready the pool for opening. Remember to check our website for Pool Opening/Hours. Please allow the Board to share the following with you:

Swim Team

Registration for the youth Storm Swim team is now open! To register swimmers for the 2024 Storm Swim Team please fill out the registration form here. Registration will be complete once fees are sent via Venmo to @StormSwimTeam. If you have a 5/6 year old you would like to be put on the waitlist, please email Annie directly at activities@theswimminghole.club

Adult swimmers, we are still working to ensure we have lifeguards to cover an open swim from 7-8 am. This would begin Monday, June 10 and run through Friday, July 12. We should know soon!

Landscaping

Phase 1 of our Landscaping Plan is now complete. Phase 1 is best explained as our initial “perimeter landscape plan”. We are reestablishing the visual & audial barriers for neighbors that were previously removed when we cut dead trees/bushes and cleared decades of overgrowth blocking sunlight and airflow.

We are asking membership to join with us to reimagine our property’s aesthetic, as we believe a homeowner &/or neighbor would in downtown Davidson. Phase 1 is just the beginning of new plantings.

Phase 2 comes in late fall of ‘24 &/or spring of ‘25 after our Reimagine Project’s construction & parking lot expansion are complete. Phase 2 is best described as our “interior landscape plan”.

Many thanks to our neighbors and our members! Everyone has shown great patience and trust in the process!

Gate Attendants (not LifeGuards)

We are excited to offer what we believe will become a highly-sought-after summer job for the kids of our members at The Swimming Hole: the Gate Attendant position.

Members’ kids – especially those who will possibly consider a future lifeguard position – now have a way to earn life skills experiences and a small wage through a flexible summer job at our pool! Candidates must be at least 14 yrs of age and must be mature enough to responsibly work for our partner/vendor, Aquatic Management of Charlotte.

We understand that this will most likely be a first real job. Space and patience for learning and developing confidence will certainly be given. Attendants will be working to train fellow members on how to check themselves in on a simple-to-use app. Everyone should be helpful. However, this is a real job. Gate Attendants must be able to consistently fulfill the main parts of the job description summarized below:

  • Communicate effectively with adults & kids alike through face-to-face interaction, establishing eye contact while remaining free from the use of a mobile phone.
  • Register member/guest attendance at the pool gate by helping members use a simple web-app on a tablet.
  • Pick up any trash on the pool deck and around our property through an inherent care for the visual appearance of our surroundings.
  • Hand out popsicles & track inventory therein by demonstrating an aptitude for service & hospitality.

If your daughter or son is at least 14, responsible & accountable for her/his actions/choices and looking to be a part of the team at our pool, please have him/her complete THIS FORM. (We will keep parents in the know with any communications prior to turning information over to our pool management company, at which point, they will take over and work directly with your child.)

Thank you for your ongoing support!

Thank you,
Glenn Prillaman
Board President
