Hello Fellow Members:
Your Board of Directors has formed a Nominating Committee to help identify qualified candidates to serve on the Board. We are seeking a new board member to serve as Treasurer and Chair of the Finance Committee. See the responsibilities below for serving on the Board in this role.
Treasurer / Finance Committee Chair
The Treasurer is responsible for the Finance Committee, and serves as Finance Committee Chair, where budgeting, financial planning, financial reporting, and the creation and monitoring of internal controls and accountability policies and practices are his/her focus.
He/she is ideally proficient with QuickBooks Online &/or understands the basics enough to manage accounting services of a third-party bookkeeping service to manage the organization’s books through generally accepted accounting principles and modern digital financial systems.
He/she understands financial statements such as a Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet, assures the finances of the organization are certified each year by a licensed CPA or otherwise accredited bookkeeping professional, and assures all filings for applicable taxes through third party resources.
The Treasurer role is key to ensuring that the Board of Directors executes its financial and fiduciary responsibilities correctly and that the Swimming Hole, Inc. institution remains financially viable at all times.
Profile of a Board Member:
- Citizen of the Town of Davidson and Swimming Hole member in good standing.
- Strong desire to work with others on a team to accomplish stated goals rooted in the Mission and Core Beliefs of our pool.
- Conveys an affinity for the Swimming Hole, its heritage and its ability to serve today’s member lifestyles in keeping with the organization’s stated Mission & Core Beliefs
- Considers operational performance/efficiencies. Will protect & preserve assets of the business. Can be trusted with fiduciary responsibilities.
- Demonstrates the ability or the willingness to learn and adopt written standard work procedures, proper Board protocol, governance & etiquette.
- Able to give the time necessary to serve, which can vary in and out of the pool season.
